Elena is One!

Recently I traveled to the Yuko-En Japanese Garden to take one year portraits of Elena. This is my third time taking pictures of Elena and it is really fun to see how she is growing and developing.

*Engaged* Chelsea and Ben

I’ve known Ben for about three years now. We met in the fall of 2006 when we had our very first studio class together.  We’ve remained very good friends since then, bonding over critique deadlines, art and life.  I was very honored to be asked to take his and Chelsea’s engagement photos about a month ago. I haven’t had a chance to get to know Chelsea very well and I was happy to get to spend some time with them as a couple.

They claimed to be uncomfortable in front of the camera but I beg to differ, I thought they did an awesome job! I am looking very forward to attending their wedding in July at the Muhammad Ali Center in Louisville. Congratulations to you both!

Dali

We have a temporary addition to the Appleby-Williams household this week. This little guy had made a home for himself outside of the Reynold’s Building at UK where my fellow art students and I had been feeding him and making him nice and chubby. I was finally able to catch him last Wednesday and brought him to our place to give him some love. He’s very sweet and has quite the little motor on him! I asked for name suggestion on Facebook and my friend Mary suggested Dali, which as soon as I heard I knew was perfect for him!

As for me I am not 100% but I am still able to function at a somewhat normal level. If the puffy eyes would just go away I’d be golden! I will have a couple of new posts coming up in the next few days and lots of stuff in the wings, including more adorable kittens, so check back soon!

Typing With One Eye Closed….

Sorry for the lack of posts! It is certainly not for lack of photos to post, quite the opposite actually, I have a ton of things to post but I am in bit behind because I’ve been a bit under the weather. I got a sinus infection which nearly always leaves me a lump on the couch for an undetermined amount of time and then got some weird kind of eye infection which has left my eyes extremely red and swollen. This of course had led to comments about pirates and people asking me where they can get the good stuff I’ve been smoking (which momentarily raised my level of cool among some of my classmates). I am hoping the medicine will kick in and I’ll be back to being myself again. Check back soon!

Happy Halloween!

I hope everyone had a fun and safe Halloween this year! Heath and I always celebrate Halloween together with the rest of our friends at a big party. Thanks Andrea for hosting, again! Heath abandoned his Superman Dressed Up as Chuck Norris costume idea and instead dreamed up this super creepy sadistic clown costume. I am not a huge fan of totally hate clowns. They creep the hell out of me! Before he was even in costume Heath was walking around the house  making faces and laughing creepily. I told him to stop. No seriously. STOP!

Creepy Clown

After the costume I ordered off of eBay turned into an EPIC fail I only had a few days to whip together a safe costume choice of a child of the 80’s. Can you believe it? Hardly anyone carries crimpers anymore? Thankfully Sally’s does! Also, thanks to the movie Fame I had no problem procuring leg warmers and hand fish-netty things. The lime green/hot pink/orange Chucks I was wearing were already part of my collection!

Another highlight of the weekend was spending time with our good friends Dana and Travis and their new little one, Lucy! She was such a little sweetie! I can’t wait to get my camera on her when she moves back home in July!
