I think Ivan has the right idea. Happy Sunday everyone!

Although I generally keep my kitties indoors every once in a while I take them outside to let them experience the outdoors. I couldn’t help but let Oliver and Boo outside today to see how they’d react to the snow. Oliver was NOT a big fan, he was back up on the steps pawing at the door in about thirty seconds.
Surprisingly Boo actually seemed to enjoy it for a little while………
but then decided she wanted to go inside after all. After she inspected the shovel, of course.
I picked up another set of foster kittens this past week. It’s pretty much the end of kitten season but when I went to visit Rusty at the shelter I asked and they just happened to have a couple. They are two little boys but I don’t have names picked out yet. Usually I wait until a name pops out at me, that really fits the kitten. Until then I’ve just been calling them “Littl’in”, which was also my grandpa’s nickname for me as a kid, and “Not So Little’in” The vet tech at LHS said that we’d probably only have to keep them for a few weeks but I am thinking it will be over a month. Littl’in probably weighs just barely over a pound and they have to be 2.5 pounds for their surgery.

It was my first weekend after the end of the semester and I tried to be as lazy as possible but I just don’t think it’s in my DNA. We spent yesterday afternoon tearing up the rest of the carpet in the basement along with all of the tack strips in preparation for the Pergo as well as getting everything ready to be painted. I did get to have lots of fun though. We had our annual Christmas party on Friday and last night we went to a friends graduation party. I haven’t played Pictionary or stayed up until 4am for a long time!
Meet Rusty! He was found in the Target parking lot and brought home to get out of the cold. He had a nasty bump on his back that turned out to be an abscess but after a trip to the vet and some meds he was back to normal. If I didn’t have 5 cats already he would definitely be a keeper but instead I’ll be taking him to LHS in a few days so that he can find his forever home. It was nice having him around for a little bit though, he’s super sweet and cuddly and he and Ivan enjoyed wrestling about the house and causing general chaos.
Last week I was asked to take photos of some of the animals up for adoption at the Lexington Humane Society. The photos will be used as part of their Home for the Pawlidays campaign. Today they featured Jazz.
My friend and fellow photographer Shaun Ring talked on his blog about being thankful for what you have and giving back to others. I couldn’t agree more! I love working with the Humane Society because my pets have given so much to me, I can’t imagine my life without my crazy pack of kitties! I want to help the animals have the best life possible and I want people to get to experience the joy of having a pet(s) in their life. If you are thinking of adding a new member to your family I really encourage you to stop by the shelter or go to your nearest Petsmart to see what animals are available for adoption. There are a lot of animals looking for their forever home!
We have a temporary addition to the Appleby-Williams household this week. This little guy had made a home for himself outside of the Reynold’s Building at UK where my fellow art students and I had been feeding him and making him nice and chubby. I was finally able to catch him last Wednesday and brought him to our place to give him some love. He’s very sweet and has quite the little motor on him! I asked for name suggestion on Facebook and my friend Mary suggested Dali, which as soon as I heard I knew was perfect for him!
As for me I am not 100% but I am still able to function at a somewhat normal level. If the puffy eyes would just go away I’d be golden! I will have a couple of new posts coming up in the next few days and lots of stuff in the wings, including more adorable kittens, so check back soon!
I just wanted to post a picture of our newest foster kittens. That’s Sasha in the front and Tabitha in the back. This weekend looks to be another one filled with home improvement and making art. I’ll post some pics if anything interesting happens. Enjoy your weekend!
